PARTICIPATING LABS

Navarro, Paloma

The goal of our lab is to determine how immune cells and inflammation shape the aging process in the brain to promote organ resilience during aging and in age-related diseases. To do so we will aim to: (i) block pro-inflammatory signaling in the old brain, (ii) determine the source of immune cells that penetrate old tissues and (iii) find anti-inflammatory factors secreted by cells in the brain.

Key technologies
  • Single cell and spatial transcriptomics
  • Protein engineering
  • Antigen TCR screening
  • Proteomics
  • Cognitive function and behavior
Key biological questions
  • How does the immune system shape the aging process in the brain?
  • Can we generate brain immunotherapies to counter aging and age-related disease
